Well, that's my birthday month out of the way!
With an extra day to get things done!
I fear I shall be stuffed for writing my blog posts if the end of the month falls on a weekend, what with swimming lessons, and visiting and shopping and all the things that need doing at weekends.
So what did you get up to in February?
Trying to keep warm and dry, or basking in the balminess of the weather?
I for one lamented the lack of snow.
For those of you who don't know me, I LOVE winter!
Snowy, frosty days are the best, especially when you can get out and about in them.
My daughter and I managed to do just that on one of the rare cold Saturday mornings we had and tried to recreate some of the icy bubble photograph's I've seen floating around the internet recently.
The idea is you blow ordinary bubble mixture onto something REALLY cold (the frozen top of our caravan), wait for the bubble to freeze and then take a picture. Here's a couple of our offerings, what do you think?
I can't wait until some decent cold weather next year to try this again.

Towards the end of the month I was taken out to afternoon tea for my birthday by one of my beautiful friends.
It was fantastically relaxed, but we both got sick of the sight of sandwiches and tea towards the end of it!
The nice thing is we have promised to do more things in 'school' hours due to a slight change at her work, and the fact I don't go out very often.
Hurrah for friendship and cake!

So, what have I actually been up to this month? I have made some gorgeous Mother's Day earrings that you could give as a simple token of affection to the ladies in your life. Whilst launched last week in time for Mother's Day, these would be ideal for those warmer spring days as the colours just suit this time of year. There's a variety of colours available including yellow, pink and a couple of shades of blue, and can be custom made with a stamen colour of your choice. Just head on over to the shop to see the choices available. |
Stained glass wise, I've been developing a star pattern to make some sun catchers. The commercially available ones, I discovered, are not equal shapes, so after cutting several points for a star out of one of the sides, I found it didn't match up!
So off to the computer and a new equally pointed star has been developed.
This is set for making in March.

I did manage to make the fox I mentioned last month. Here he is in all his orangey glory! The glass used here is a superb wispy orange colour, perfect for creating the illusion of fur. As a prototype, this one's not for sale, as I have discovered a couple of flaws with the design which need to be tweaked, but overall I am delighted with this design which has been adapted from an embroidery pattern. I'm really pleased to say that these will be on sale in a range of custom colours from the end of March. So that's it. February over and done with. Let me know in the comments below what you got up to this month, and what March looks like for you, and I'll see you at the end of it Kat xxx |
