Well, that's it, I've finished the second year of my degree, and I've passed it!
If you're wondering why I've done the second year, and not the first, it's because I did my HND in Fine Art last year, and therefore could jump straight onto the degree, with no training wheels, and virtually at a run!!
It's been a busy academic year, with loads of hard work going on behind the scenes, but I am proud of what I've achieved, I might even be beginning a collection, rather than just bringing pre-made elements together.
You'll have to watch this space though!!!........

So, what have I been working on? For the last project we were originally asked to accrue images and words that interested us - for those of you who know me will understand that this was a chaotic task for me!!! I managed to narrow it down to maps and then had fun trying to work out how to incorporate them into my work. I looked at paper, having a walk down memory lane with quilling. This is a technique using long, thin strips of paper which gets coiled around a tool to create beautifully coloured curvy shapes, which get glued into place. I finally returned to an old favourite medium however, in a bid to improve my skills in metal. By using copper wire, wrapping and soldering techniques, I recreated the part of the map which shows the three places I've lived, and the main roads I have used to travel between the three. |
I then created personalised map markers, a bit like the indicators on maps which tell you points of interest like museums, hills etc.
The detail above shows where I live now, see if you can work out what goes on and pop it in the comments!!
I also finished my work experience at the local international school with a wonderful centenary project.
I have helped around 30 children over the course of three days to create around 60 ceramic panels which documents the 100 year history of the school.
These are going to be fired, decorated with glaze and enamels then fired again over the summer ready for display in September.
I'm hoping to get some pictures of them in-situ then.
Now to prepare for a craft fair evening on Saturday, and a full day one at the end of the month.
Check out the events page to find out where I will be released into the wild!!
