Today is the turn of the lovely Linda. We met for the first time in the second week of January this as we both had nervously gone to a networking meeting! She's now a firm friend, and I squeezed her for some information about her burgeoning business. So grab that cuppa, settle in and let's go together..... BlueKat - So Linda, share with us your lovely business! What's it called and what do you? Linda - My business is called Sparkly Styles and I work with vinyl to create many products including greetings cards, t-shirts and reusable shopping bags. BK - How did you get into doing that? It's not your average craft! L - No, it's not! I have always loved crafting and used to paint on glass, do card making and bead work. Then I had my son 8 years ago and haven’t had time to make much. Last Christmas I started making gifts for family and friends, just a few t-shirts and bags as I couldn’t find what I wanted in the shops, and it accidentally turned into a little business!! BK - Tee hee, and you're building a lovely business, accommodating people like me who ask for random jumpers and t-shirts to be made!! Do you have a favourite tool or technique to use? L - I love using HTV (heat transfer vinyl) at the moment to put the designs on to the bags and t-shirts. My favourite tool is my scan 'n' cut machine, the possibilities are endless with it. BK - I love the colours you provide in that vinyl, they suit you down to the ground! What are your main influences for your work? L - My drive for running my business is making it successful so that I don’t have to work for someone else. I can be my own boss, work around my son and care for my elderly parents as well as still being creative. BK - That's such an important factor in self employment, flexibility for your life. Finally Linda, where can we find you? L - You can just find me on Facebook at the moment https://www.facebook.com/sparklystyles/ Thanks so much for your time Linda, it's been lovely getting know a little bit behind the scenes of Sparkly Styles. Don't forget to come and see Linda and myself on the 20th of September, she's bound to bring loads of items for you to look at, and I'm sure her order book will be open for Christmas too! Kat xx | AuthorHi Everyone, welcome to the blog, I'd like to say it's regularly updated, but I do struggle with thinking of what to write (at the moment! It's all gonna change!!!) |
